The camera pans in to the window after we get an establishing shot to set the scene. We know its halloween as the house he is in is covered in them. Before we enter the house, we get a sense of an over the top love for halloween. As the camera pans and zooms to the window we get a funny silhouette of his running across the window. Then we enter the house and again, get a silhouette of his pouncing across the room. Setting the personality before the even 'see' him. May add some giggles too. He swoops across the floor and anticipates downwards.
The then does a scary face and gesture to the mirror to test how scary he looks. Camera follows him as he bends down to talk to his rat. I replaced the line with 'man WE look cool.'
The rat looks a bit dumbfounded for a second and shrugs shyly, to show he is rather bashful about getting such a compliment. This shows intelligence before he even does anything.
The rat will have a little cape too... purely for a cute factor.
The boy rubs his slick hair and turns towards the camera giving us the best charming look he can manage. A bit over the top too, to make it look like he isn't a natural charmer.
The rat does the same, sticking a little tuft of fluff back.
He hides behind the cape and swings it round dramatically. The camera crash zooms out.
We cut into his face as he pulls a fierce expression. Cuts in to show the fangs.
While he feels his face, the rath copies what he has just done. He leaps over to the other side of the drawers and flicks his cape to the side.
The boy wonders over to the left, with a look on his face telling us he is up to something. He turns round and hunches over slowly then flicks round to try and scare the rat. But the cape flicks round with him and flings the rat onto the bed where the rat plops down softly. I really wanted to get a clumsy scene in here as it really adds to the character. The boy doesn't seem to realise what he just did as he points and says 'ah'! Showing his silly side.
That rats eyes roll around, he shakes his head and he lays back down looking unimpressed listening to the boy talk.
The boy bares his fingernails to the rat. Then we get a reverse shot where the rat rolls his eyes, a little tired of the boy now.
I need to amend their relationship now, so he will give a warm smile to the rat and gently put his hand down for the rat to step onto. Places him on his shoulder and walks to the camera giving us a fade to black. This will help change the scene as its a different transition.
I love this scene. He is sat there looking out his window and then toward the rat. As the rat sits there making sure his seatbelt is on then looks up at him at the same time. This is such a cute little scene!
Then we get a banana shot, the perspective will shift as the camera pans right to show him running from the school gates into school. I can also make the kids look around at him in confusion.
He bursts into the hall, looking down for a second as he has just had a bit of a run. He looks up, for a second he looks pleased with himself but then we crash zoom into his shocked expression. We pan left from a few people with lunch trays, to a room full of students looking round at him.
He says the line then looks to him rat, embarrased and maybe a bit fearful of what the rat may think. We zoom into the rat he.... well looks like he does in the pictures. A bit cheesed off! Then looks to us and shrugs.
Here i start to develop the rat character. First i have a look at how rats have been drawn before, looking at which parts work well when they are exaggerated.
Did some more sketches...
Im quite happy with how this one is looking.
Exploring how the bedroom is going to look now, and what things i can put in it to show he is crazy about vampires. So posters will do i think!
